Hello, Heteronyms!

About!

Welcome to the semi-diary of our system, told in comics form! Some things changed slightly for the publicity of the internet, of course. This was quite a common trend on tumblr but our webcomic acquaintances over at webcomic ring encouraged us to make our own site for it, and we feel a bit more unique over here, haha. There aren’t as many of us plurality comics out here.

Who we are:

We are a somewhat-dissocative somewhat-born-like-this plural system with around 17 members at the forefront but actually many many many more who haven’t shown themselves to my circle much yet. As well as there being a second system in this body we have little contact with. We have a complex structure. We tend to see ourselves as real, distinct people, not parts of a whole. We all have very different opinions on many things.

“What’s your origin/diagnosis/blah blah blah?”

Wouldn’t you like to know, weatherboy?

“Woah, what’s this whole plurality thing about anyways?”

It's cool! Check it out!

“What do you go by collectively?”

The Dovecote, the heteronyms of The Dovecote. ze/hir collectively.

"How should people refer to you?"

as individual members. Either just by name or as [name] of The Dovecote.

What terms do you prefer for referring to yourselves as individuals, or as a group? Is there any other terminology for yourselves or aspects of your experience that you use and want people to know, or that you dislike and want people to avoid when talking about you?

Heteronyms, please. Headmates is also fine. So is people. Group-wise we are a system. Avoid explicitly medical terms for us.

"Will people be interacting with any child members? How should they treat them? Is there anything they should know when interacting with them?"

Probably. Treat her like an adult, mostly.

"Are there any system members who are nonverbal or otherwise have difficulty communicating? What should others expect when speaking with them?"

No.

"What should people do if they don't know who's at front?"

You can ask. If we are feeling more secretive however feel free to use our collective name. or no name. also allowed.

"Is it okay for people to ask if they can talk to someone who isn't at front at the moment?"

Yes, but we can’t make any promises.

"If someone talks to one of you, will other system members be aware of the conversation? Will they be actively watching, or just able to remember it later?"

We might be, we might not. It really depends. Assume we don’t know and might need some explaining.

"Adding onto the above – if multiple system members will be aware of a conversation, will they want to chime in? If someone wants to speak to a system member one-on-one, what expectations can they have and how should they communicate this?"

Probably. We are a chatty bunch. However, we can try to pay attention to other things if you want more privacy.

"How out are you? What should people do when talking to people who don't know you're plural?"

If somehow you find us IRL, which is very unlikely (or are the IRL friends we have sent this site to, Hi!) we are semi-out. Most of our friends know to some extent. Our family doesn’t.

"Do you have any internal communication difficulties, memory issues, switch triggers, etc that others should be mindful of?"

We do experience amnesia and lost time. In fact, we are very unstuck from it, usually. Be patient.

"Your stance on being asked questions about personal experience, preferences, plurality in general, etc?"

Ask away! We love attention, lol.
